Scholarships available for the West Bengal students of every classes.


In West Bengal, millions of students are studying in different classes every year. Many of them do not have a very good financial background, so they need financial help to continue their higher studies. Over the past few years, the government has come to provide financial assistance to various poor and meritorious students. In addition of these govt. Scholarships there are some other Scholarships too. Here some of the best govt scholarships, their Eligibilities, amount and online application links are provided. All the Scholarship details are provided Classwise. 

Scholarships for class-I to X ::

1. Pre-metric Minority Scholarship : 

  • Only Minorities Muslims, Christian, Sikh, Jain, persi students studying in India are eligible. 
  • Candidates should have minimum 50% marks in last qualifying exam
  • Family income should not be higher than 1.00 lakh per annum.
  • Scholarship amount -- 1000 per year (class-I to VI),   1850/- per year for class-VI to X (Day Scholar) and 2350/- per year for class-VI to X (Hosteller)

2. Pre-metric SC, ST scholarship : 

  • Only SC and ST students of class-IX and X are eligible
  • there is no minimum marks. Candidates only need to be passed
  • Family income should not be above 2 lakh per annum

3. DST Inspire Scholarship/Award : 

  • Students of class-VI to X of the age group 10-15 years are eligible. 
  • Scholarship amount is 5000/- per year

Scholarships for class-XI and XII :: 

1. Swami Vivekananda Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship:

  • All candidates having at least 75% marks in last qualifying examination are eligible
  • Family income should not be greater than 2 lakh and 50 thousand per annum
  • Scholarship amount 12,000 per annum

2. DST Inspire Scholarship/Internships : 

  • Students of class-XI and XII of the age group of 15-17 years are eligible. 
  • Scholarship amount 10,000/- per annum(most probably)
  • Application link 

3. Post-metric Minority Scholarship (MOMA) : 

  • Students of Minority Communities like Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Jain, Parsis etc studying in India are eligible
  • Minimum 50% marks required in last qualifying exam
  • Family income should not be exceeded 2 lakh per annum
  • Scholarship amount :: 9300/- per annum for Day Scholar and 10,800/- per annum for Hosteller.

4. Post-metric SC ST OBC Scholarship: 

  • Candidates should be from SC, ST or Obc caste in India as per govt rules
  • Family income should be less than 2 lakh 50 thousand per annum
  • Scholarship amount :: 3000-5000 for Obc and 5000-7000 for SC and ST (check official notice)

Scholarship for Graduation students (After HS or 10+2):: 

1. DST INSPIRE Scholarship: 

  • The scheme offers Scholarship to 10,000 students every year across India in the age group 17-22 years. 
  • students having minimum 75% marks in higher Secondary can apply for this scholarship. However , Candidates should rank within top 1% of their respective board to get provisionally selected. 
  • Candidates who ranked within top 1000 in IIT , JEE and presently studying BSc in Science are also eligible.
  • Family income doesn't matter 
  • Candidates should be from Science background and the special subject in Graduation should be among the subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Zoology, Botany, Physiology, Microbiology, Astronomy, Astrology, Geology, Statistics, Biochemistry, Geophysics, Electronics, Atmospheric Science and Oceanic Science.
  • Scholarship amount 80,000/- per annum for 5 years upto MSc. (If secures minimum 60% in every year in Graduation)

2. Swami Vivekananda Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship: 

  • All candidates having at least 75% marks in last qualifying examination are eligible
  • Family income should not be greater than 2 lakh and 50 thousand per annum
  • Scholarship amount :: 12,000 per annum for Arts and Commerce students in Graduation and 18000/- per annum for Science students in Graduation.

3. Scholarship from Chief Minister Relief Fund (Nabanno, Kolkata):

  • This is alternative scholarship of swami Vivekananda Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship. 
  • Candidates who secure marks below 75% in last qualifying exam are not eligible for Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship, but eligible for Scholarship from Chief Minister Relief Fund. 
  • Scholarship amount :: 10000-15000 per annum. 
  • Application :: Offline at Nabanno, Kolkata

4. Post-metric Minority Scholarship (MOMA) : 

  • Students of Minority Communities like Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Jain, Parsis etc studying in India are eligible 
  • Minimum 50% marks required in last qualifying exam
  • Family income should not be exceeded 2 lakh per annum
  • Scholarship amount:: 8700/- per year for Hosteller and 6000/- per year for Day Scholar.

5. MOMA Merit-Cum-Means for Engineering and Medical Students: 

  • Students belong to Minority Communities and currently pursuing Professional or Technical Courses are eligible for this scholarship.
  • Minimum 50% marks required in last qualifying exam
  • Family income should not be exceeded 2 lakh per annum 
  • Scholarship amount :: 30,000 per annum for Hosteller and 25,000 per annum for Day Scholar.

6.Post-metric SC ST OBC Scholarship:: 

  • Candidates should be from SC, ST or Obc caste in India as per govt rules 
  • Family income should be less than 2 lakh 50 thousand per annum 
  • Scholarship amount:: 4000-6000 per annum for Obc and 7000-10000 per annum for SC and ST.

Scholarship for PG (MA/MSC/MCom) Students ::

1. Swami Vivekananda Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship: 

  • All candidates having at least 53% marks in last qualifying examination are eligible (Graduation)
  • Family income should not be greater than 2 lakh and 50 thousand per annum
  • Scholarship amount :: 24,000 per annum for Arts and Commerce students and 30,000 per annum for Science students.

  • Single Girl with no brother or sister in a family who secure minimum 60% marks in Graduation in any Science subject is Eligible.
  • Scholarship amount: 80,000/- per annum.
